Meet our horses: gentle souls with stories of hope and renewal, always welcoming visitors with warmth.

Our horses come from difficult pasts and now enjoy a safe haven where they can recover, thrive, and share their stories of resilience.

Crimson & Clover (Chloe) — Our Namesake, Our Matriarch, Our Heart

Age: 24
Breed: Warmblood Cross
Status: Senior • Retired • Special Needs

Chloe isn’t just part of our story — she is our story.

Owned and loved by Haley since she was two years old, Chloe is the horse who shaped the values of Crimson & Clover Pastures. She was the first horse Haley ever started herself using the Parelli natural horsemanship method and was a companion during times of hardship.

From ages 3 to 8, she competed in eventing up to Training level, always showing heart, bravery, and loyalty.

At eight, Chloe began experiencing sacroiliac (SI) issues. Instead of pushing her through pain, Haley chose compassion and retired her from competition. Chloe then became a mother — an exceptional one — to two foals:

• Tesla — now a remarkable Grand Prix dressage horse
• Quantum — a sweet colt lost too soon to colic

Chloe’s mothering instincts live on today in her bond with Savvy. She teaches him boundaries, grazes alongside him, and watches over him like the gentle matriarch she is.

Chloe’s Special Care Needs

Chloe is a hard keeper and receives specialized senior care, including:

  • Corrective shoeing for thin hoof walls & a club foot
  • Management for rotational leg & hoof issues
  • Anti-inflammatories and nutritional support
  • Multiple baths a week to protect her sensitive skin

She is cherished, wise, and endlessly gentle to babies and children— the heart behind our name and our mission.

Savvy’s Spirit — The Orphan Foal With a Second Chance

Age: 2
Breed: Draft Pony Cross
Status: Orphan • Rescue • Growing & Thriving

Savvy’s story began with loss — but it continues with hope.

Born at a nurse mare farm, Savvy lost his mother when he was just three days old. He was taken away because his mom needed to nurse a more expensive show foal, part of an often unseen and heartbreaking industry practice. In some cases surrogate mares who are carrying top bloodline horses will reject their foals. Other times mare’s pass away during birth or show mares needs to be bread again quickly without a chance to nurture their babies. This practice creates a rippling effect for foal’s like Savvy who are discarded for their mom’s to adopt “higher value” babies.

Foals like Savvy become the unintended casualties: alone, scared, and deprived of the nourishment nature intended.

Because he survived on artificial orphan milk formulas, Savvy is smaller than a typical draft cross, but his spirit has never been small.

Savvy has blossomed into a curious, affectionate, expressive little gelding who loves learning, playing, and bonding with his pasture-mate, Chloe.

Savvy reminds us why this sanctuary exists — to protect the vulnerable and give every horse the chance to grow into who they were meant to be.

The Heart of Crimson & Clover Pastures

Savvy represents the second chances we fight for.
Chloe represents the love and legacy we honor.

Together, they symbolize our purpose:
A sanctuary where every horse is valued, protected, and given the life they deserve.

Our goal is to offer other senior, orphan, and rescue horses reasonable board for owners looking for a more reasonable solution. We also hope to adopt another bottle baby like Savvy in the future.
